With Super Bowl XLVII this Sunday, Acadian Ambulance's Orleans operations team is finalizing their preparations for the big event.
As the official EMS provider to the Mercedes Benz Superdome, Acadian Ambulance provides approximately 24 medics for each Saints game. However, 68 medics will be on duty for the Super Bowl, and Acadian's Medical Director Dr. Chuck Burnell, MD, will be on site as well. In addition, Acadian Ambulance's EMS bike team-which was established last year at the request of Superdome officials-will also be on duty for the game.
Along with the medics, Ochsner physicians will staff each first-aid station, to provide as much on-site treatment as possible helping to insure that the fans' experience is protected in a positive and safe manner.
With the surge of visitors inundating the city, Acadian Ambulance began supplementing New Orleans EMS on Jan. 27 with several ambulances, and will continue to do so through Feb. 5. As part of a regional support effort, the Acadian crews are dedicated solely to assisting the City of New Orleans' EMS system. They will be dispatched and controlled exclusively by NOEMS. This cooperative effort will help assure that the residents, as well as the visitors to New Orleans, will have an ambulance quickly should the need arise.
Planning for Super Bowl XLVII began more than a year ago, with Acadian participating in more than 100 planning meetings that included the NFL, FBI, Sports Medical Group, N.O.E.M.S. and other agencies.
"The Super Bowl has required countless hours of preparation from employees across the company," said Steve Kuiper, vice president of operations. "We have a solid plan in place and are ready. All of this is a testament to the depth of resources and teamwork of Acadian Ambulance."
Acadian Ambulance is committed to their patients and their communities. They are an emergency and non-emergency medical transportation provider to Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi.
Since 1971, Acadian has provided the highest level of emergency medical care and transportation possible. In the past decade, the company has expanded to include a diverse suite of services in health, safety, and transportation. Acadian's six divisions are Acadian Ambulance Service, Acadian Monitoring Services, Air Med, Executive Aircraft Charter Service, National EMS Academy and Safety Management Systems.
