Acadia Parish Sheriff's Deputies Investigate Single Engine Plane Crash

The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a small engine plane crash that sent the pilot to the hospital.

Deputies say shortly after 1:00pm on Saturday, they were called to the 100 block of Rue Che'ne near Crowley. Deputies say they, along with members of the Crowley Fire Department, learned a a Venterra two seater single engine plane was trying to make a landing on a private air strip when the front nose gear folded causing the plane to overturn.

Deputies say the pilot, whose identity is not being released at this time, was the owner of the plane. He was taken to Lafayette General Hospital by Acadian Ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

Officials with FAA are expected to travel to Acadia Parish to conduct an investigation.
