Acadia Parish flood maps now in effect

New flood insurance rate maps for Acadia Parish are now effect. The latest flood hazard maps, known as digital flood insurance rate maps or D-firms, outline new flood-risk zones and serve as an integral part of the national flood insurance plan.

The maps play a key role in defense against flood losses. Bottom line, these new maps could spell a change in property owners' flood plane status..
