Sheriff Melancon is once again reminding residents that the burn ban put into effective on October 3, 2010 is still in place. All residents are to refrain from any activity that could initiate a fire especially with the winds predicted for this week.
Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon stated that his office is investigating the following incidents:
-A complaint involving 4 wheelers on roadway, Edmonia Drive, Church Point. Deputies had 4 wheeler towed pending production of proper paperwork.
-Theft of leaf blower taken from a residence on Fournerat Road, Eunice. Investigation continues.
-Domestic incident at a residence on Sidney Richard Road near Crowley. Upon arrival and after and brief investigation deputies arrested Joseph Henry Bellard, age 24, of Sidney Richard Road, Crowley. He was booked in the Acadia Parish Jail charged with Domestic Battery 1st Offense. His bond was set at $1,000.
-Domestic incident at a residence on Aster Road, Crowley. A warrant has been issued following the investigation. Arrest pending.
-Commercial burglary on Railroad Avenue in Mermentau. Taken was an welding torch, regulators, and mini grinder. The investigation continues.
-Theft of a weapon from a residence located on Muskrat Road, Crowley. The investigation continues.
-Burglary of a residence located on Hubert Lane near Church Point. Unknown items were taken. The investigation continues.
-Theft of lawn equipment from a residence on Warrant Road near Rayne. Investigation continues.
-Theft of several hot water casing taken from a field located on Teddy Street near Crowley. Investigation continues.
-Vandalism of a motor vehicle that occurred near Pierre Matte Road, Church Point.
-Theft of a weapon from a residence located on Conrad Road near Crowley. Investigation continues.
-Deputies responded to a call shortly after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at a commercial business located on I-10 Service Road near Rayne. Upon arrival deputies learned that an altercation had taken place between business owners and the friend of an employee. Minor injuries were reported to all involved and as the investigation continues charges are pending in this matter.
