Sheriff Melancon is once again reminding residents that the burn ban put into effective on October 3, 2010 is still in place. All residents are to refrain from any activity that could initiate a fire especially with the winds predicted for this week.
Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon stated that his office is investigating the following incidents:
Complaint at the Lion's Den located on Bocage Road near Egan. Upon arrival deputies learned that an altercation between a customer and cashier took place. Following a brief investigation Robyn Joelle McNeal, age 24, of Hayes Cemetary Road, Effie, LA and Yvette Duhon, age 42, of Marshall Street, Rayne were issued citations for simple battery.
Vandalism to Halloween decorations that occurred at Richard Elementary located on Charlene Hwy. near Church Point.
Theft of a computer taken from a residence located on Rue Dauphine near Crowley.
Vehicle fire that occurred on Hwy 97 North of McFarlain near Eunice. The vehicle was unoccupied. Investigation pending.
Trespassers were reported on private property near Allie Young Road, Eunice LA. According to responding deputies several individuals were hunting on private property without the owner's permission. Sheriff Melancon wants to remind hunters to get permission from landowners before entering or hunting on their land.
Disturbance at an apartment complex in Crowley. Deputies investigating the incident advised a Tory Talbott, age 23 of Jason Drive, Crowley was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Criminal Damages to Property. Bond was set at $1,500.
Theft of wood taken from a trailer located on Civil Road near Crowley. Deputies advised that approximately 1,000 feet of wood floor along with several household items were taken. The investigation continues.
House fire on Alfa Romero near Basile, LA. Basile Fire Department was dispatched and handled the incident.
A resident on David Neil Street near Rayne reported the theft of a flat screen from a camper. Matter under investigation.
Grass fire on Fournerat Road near Eunice. Eunice Fire Department handled the incident.
Deputies cited a 15 year old juvenile from Church Point for Criminal Damage to property following a brief investigation on Faith Road.
Several residents on Pointe Noire Road near Branch reported the vandalism of several mailboxes. Deputies investigating the incident were advised that the vandalisms took place around 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning. Investigation continues.
