About 30 Airmen Deploy for Afghanistan Tour

HAMMOND, La. (AP) - Airmen of the Louisiana National Guard's 236th Combat Communication Squadron, 159th Fighter Wing, will bid farewell to family and friends during a deployment ceremony at the University of Southeastern Louisiana.
About 30 airmen, based in Hammond, will deploy Wednesday afternoon for six months to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
While deployed, officials said their mission will include providing voice and data communications in support of national military objectives.
