ABBEVILLE, La. (AP) - The City of Abbeville has sued a former firefighter for the cost of his training, saying he failed to full-time for two years after becoming fully certified.
The suit says Cody Mire should pay the city just over $6,400, in 12 monthly installments.
Mire worked for the department from about Dec. 6, 2006, to around Dec. 12, 2008. The contract calls for two years of full-time work once post-employment certification is complete.
It also calls workers who don't meet that requirement to repay "any and all sums detailed upon employee's expense breakdown".
