Abbeville Police Chief David Hardy says that his department is still investigating three reported shootings on Thursday night.
An initial report of shots fired in the 1600 block of Martin Luther King Dr. yielded no evidence of any shooting. After a second shooting complaint was reported from Tiki's Lounge on South Miles St., police discovered a wounded individual and transported him to Abbeville General Hospital for treatment. According to police, while officers were investigating the second shooting at Tiki's Lounge, a third shooting at 1101 Green Street was reported.
According to initial reports of these incidents, when officers arrived, they discovered only multiple bullet casings in back of the house on Green St. as well as an old car riddled with bullet holes. The police were unable to find anyone with guns.
According to these reports, officers encountered Deonzae Lee on Lamar St. with a single gunshot wound in his forearm. After being treated by Acadian Ambulance, Lee was taken to the hospital, where he was later questioned by police about his wounded arm. Detectives indicated that he did not know who had shot him and that he did not wish to pursue charges.
After Lee was released from the hospital, the police said that they were informed that there was a warrant for Lee on a parole violation, prompting his arrest by detectives.
Lee was booked into the Vermilion Parish jail. Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call police at 337-893-2511.
