Abbeville Police are investigating two overnight shootings that happened close in time and proximity; different shooters and different victims but police believe the two are related.
The first happened just after 1:00 AM at the Tiki Club on South Miles Street when a fight between a group of women became potentially deadly.
Police say Marcus Rice of Abbeville pulled out a gun and fired.
"(Rice) hits (the victim) over the head with a gun and shoots him in the stomach," Lt. David Hardy said.
Police say the brawl escalated outside into the parking lot where two men were shot. That however, wasn't the end of this dispute.
Just three blocks down, another shooting at a home on Lafayette Street. Police say it was retaliation to what happened at Tiki Club just minutes before.
"That's what we believe- it's a retaliation." Lt. Hardy says, "against (the first shooter) and his family because of the fight."
No one was injured during this second shooting but police say two men fired shots inside the home and at a pair of cars.
Dennis Petry was arrested and charged with aggravated assault for this crime and police say another man, Daniel Paul Simon could be looking at similar charges for his role in this retaliation.
Both of these suspects and Marcus Rice have previous records with the police department.
Police say two of the suspects, Rice and Simon are still on the run. If you have any information on the case, contact Abbeville Police.
