The Abbeville police officer who shot at a moving car is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation. The Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating circumstances surrounding five shots fired at a fishtailing car Sunday night on Massena Street. Minutes before the officer fired, he tried flagging down the speeding driver, but Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon said the driver sped off, drove onto the shoulder of the road and began to fishtail. Police found the abandoned car on Franks Alley, not far away from where the shooting happened. No one reported being shot, and witnesses in the area say a woman and two infants got of the car.
