Abbeville Man Facing Drug Charges Twice in a Month

The Vermilion Parish Municipal Narcotics Task Force arrested Jordan Matthews of 404 Sucre Circle, Abbeville. Sheriff's Office Spokesperson, Drew David, says agents tried to stop the vehicle Matthews was driving but says the suspect sped away. David says Matthews is the same person arrested two weeks ago on possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance.

David says the man parked the car in someone's yard, left the gear in drive, and caused slight damage when it hit the home. Agents caught up with Matthews and he was charged with Resisting and officer and numerous traffic violations. Agents found suspected marijuana on Matthews which brought another charge of possession of marijuana. Agents accuse Matthews of tossing "much of the drugs" as he sped away from authorities.

Sheriff Couvillon would like to applaud the concerned citizens of Vermilion Parish for their awareness and assistance in helping the Sheriff's Office in fighting the war on illegal drugs. He encourages all citizens with information in regards to illegal drug activities to contact the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office or the Vermilion Parish Municipal Narcotics Task Force at 337-740-4501 or E-mail the Task Force anonymously at
