Daniel Hernandez turned himself in to the Abbeville Police Department this afternoon and has been booked on a warrant for Manslaughter. The bond on the warrant was set at $100,000.00 by Judge Durwood Conque. Daniel has since been transported to Vermilion Parish Correctional Center where he will be held on the charge.
Jason Duhon has passed away from injuries sustained on January 29th at Dee's Lounge. Abbeville Police are now looking for Daniel Hernandez who bonded on the 2nd Degree Battery charge. He's now wanted on a charge of Manslaughter.
Reported a couple of weeks ago:
A man is non-responsive and in a Lafayette hospital ICU with brain damage following a mysterious incident at Dee's Lounge over the weekend in Abbeville.
The mysterious circumstances surround how 33 year-old Jason Duhon received injuries to the back of his head that have placed him in the hospital. Police say they were called out to the lounge on the LA 14 Bypass early Saturday morning regarding a disturbance. When they arrived, police say Duhon was outside the lounge and was unconcious.
Duhon was taken to Abbeville General and then transported to a Lafayette hospital where he remains in ICU.
Abbeville Police Chief Tony Hardy says that they are following up on numerous leads and many say that Duhon was beaten by several people.
"it's hard to say now what happened until we follow up on the leads we're getting," said Hardy.
Hardy says there are no arrests to be made yet but any charges will depend on Duhon's condition.
According to hardy a potential suspect could be facing Second Degree Battery or Aggravated Assault charges for hitting Duhon. But those charges increase to Second Degree Murder or Manslaughter if Duhon dies.
Hardy says that Duhon's family are also passing along leads to police.
Anyone with information is asked to call Chief Hardy at the Abbeville Police Department at 893-2511.
