A text message threat against Abbeville High School turned out to be a hoax, and the student behind it faces disciplinary action. Vermilion Parish Schools Superintendent Randy Schexnayder says the school was put under a partial lockdown earlier this morning after the suspect reported receiving a text message that threatened the lives of other students. Schexnayder says investigators determined the threat was false after finding inconsistencies in the suspect's stories regarding the text message. Schexnayder says the student will face "severe punishment," but he could not elaborate due to privacy policies. KATC attempted to reach Abbeville Police Chief Tony Hardy to find out if charges would be filed, but he was unavailable for comment.
