The Vermilion / Municipal Narcotics Task Force recently made the following arrests for drug related crimes:
- David Chargois of Lafayette was arrested after Sheriffs Deputies responded to a call and heads up law enforcement work lead deputies to believe that there was more to the call that met the eye. Upon speaking with Chargois and others on the call the deputies called out the task force to investigate if illicit narcotics were behind some of the strange behavior of the suspects at the scene. Upon arriving, agents interviewed certain parties involved and it was ascertained that Chargois was in possession of illegal steroids (Trenbolone) which is a schedule III narcotic, and was also in possession of drug paraphernalia. Chargois was taken into custody and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a schedule III narcotic. Total bond set was $11,000.
- Agents were called to Abbeville General Hospital when the Abbeville Police Department made a traffic stop on one Eldridge Zenon III of Abbeville. Zenon attempted to discard crack cocaine by eating the drug to elude an arrest. Officers found two of the several crack cocaine rocks Zenon attempted to eat, and transported him to the hospital. Agents met the officers there and secured the evidence while Zenon was kept in observation for several hours with agents standing nearby. Once Zenon was cleared, agents arrested him for possession of crack cocaine. Total bond set was $15,000.
- Agents received information that one Jacoby Dozier of Abbeville was transporting crack cocaine by vehicle from residence to residence for distribution purposes. Agents were aware that Dozier was also being actively sought by probation and parole for violation. Upon agents locating Dozier, an attempt to stop the vehicle was met with Dozier fleeing the scene in a volatile way. Agents were able to locate Dozier's vehicle, which he fled from, and also found crack cocaine in the vehicle, along with a fully loaded magazine to a hand gun which lead the officers to believe Dozier was armed at the time. Agents were able to make an arrest on Dozier days later when he was located by undercover operatives. He was charged with possession with the intent to distribute cocaine along with several other charges such as contempt of court, hit and run and other. Total bond set was $72,000.
