NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Halloween was shaping up as a wet and sometimes stormy holiday for much of Louisiana.
A broad swath of rain was training across the state at midday Thursday. Rain drenched parts of western, central and northeastern Louisiana in the morning. Street flooding was reported in some areas and authorities kept an eye out for severe weather.
Calcasieu Parish emergency director Dick Gremillion said there were reports of morning wind damage in DeQuincy. At midday, tornado watches were posted in parts of south, central and eastern Louisiana.
More rain was in the evening forecast for much of the state: a 20 percent chance in northwestern Louisiana; near 100 percent for the New Orleans area into south Mississippi.
