The hottest part of the year in Acadiana is typically the time from the end of July up through mid August, and temperatures this weekend will fit the bill.
Acadiana has already been seeing days with heat indices in the triple digits, and that pattern will continue well into the weekend.
Saturday will be unsettled enough that widely scattered showers will be possible in the afternoon and evening across parts of Acadiana.
Despite a few showers, however, temperatures will still be well up into the 90s and the heat index will be closer to 100-105 degrees.
Sunday skies will clear out slightly, but temperatures will be warming up.
We're still chasing that 95 degree mark but this could be the weekend that we finally see it, so make sure you're taking care of yourself in the heat.
A change in the pattern by mid week will result in some more unsettled weather moving in for the next work week.
