A Travel Warning from the Lafayette Sheriff's Office

A warning tonight from the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office. Deputies say with the threat of additional rainfall overnight, they want to warn motorist that standing water on the roadway is becoming more likely. Standing water is not recognizable in low lit areas some roadways with a low lying areas are already holding water. Motorist are urged to drive with caution throughout Lafayette Parish. Motorist should never travel across standing water as most drowning deaths occur when motorist attempt to drive through water with deceptive depth.

The Sheriff's Office says, no roadways have been closed at this point. Drivers should report any unsafe conditions to your local police agency.
