A Story of Enduring Love 51 Years Strong

It is Valentine's Day and this morning a story of enduring love, 51 years strong. Flower shops like Spedale's Florist and businesses all over Acadiana are expected to be busy today as shoppers buy last minute gifts, but one Lafayette couple says Valentine's Day isn't so much about the gifts, its more about the quality time.
Love is in the air and many are shopping for gifts, for that special someone.
"We usually buy each other a card and if we want flowers for the house, we'll talk about it and we'll go buy flowers," said Helen & Wesley Turner.
When first married Helen and Wesley Turner say it was important for the candy, flowers and the gifts but after 51 wonderful years of marriage gifts just don't seem as meaningful.
"That wasn't the important thing about Valentines the important thing was spending time together," said Helen.
Valentines Day is usually a big day for the ladies but Helen says it's important that she makes it just as special for Wesley.
"If you're really in love with this person and you want to show them love, just try to say it more often not just on that one special day," said Helen.
Two kids, four grandchildren and 51 years later the Turners say---not just Valentines Day but everyday is still just as sweet.
"It's important to us cause we get along good and we're happy together," said Wesley.
The Turners say staying creative on Valentines Day can be tricky after 51 years of marriage but they always somehow find a way to keep the spark.
Now if you're still without a Valentine's Day gift, card or idea, don't fret, it's still early so get the creative juices flowing before it gets to late.
