A Founding Member or the Lafayette Mardi Gras Association Dies at 97

Funeral services for Ruth White Brooks age 97 who was a educator and community leader Pioneering many first in the Lafayette area has died.

Services will be held on Thursday March 6, 2014 1:00 p.m. at Trinity CME Church. Brooks was a teacher of Chemistry and Biology at Paul Breaux Senior High School and organized and coached its first women's basketball team. She also was a founding member and one of the last surviving members of the Lafayette Mardi Gras Association.

Visitation will be held Thursday morning at Kinchen Funeral Home, from 10am until services at 1pm, at Trinity CME Church.
