A Duson man is dead tonight, and family and friends say a poisonous snake is to blame. Tylor Quebedeaux, the man's friend, says he found out his friend died on Sunday afternoon.
Quebedeaux said, "He was a great guy, funny, loved having a good time."
Quebedeaux said his friend was rushed to the hospital Saturday after he was attacked by a Pygmy Rattlesnake, also known as a Ground Rattler.
Quebedeaux said, "He was just outside playing with his remote control car when it happened. The car flipped over and he went to go pick it up and that when it bit his hand."
Stan Dutile with the LSU Ag Center says even though it's not common to hear about Ground Rattlers killing adults because they're venomous, they can be lethal for anyone.
Dutile says, "The Ground Rattlers are really small and usually inject a small amount of venom..so depending on the amount venom injected it's possible."
KATC has not confirmed the exact cause of death, which would come with a coroner's report. We do know he was bitten by a snake, and that he died at the hospital where he was being treated.
