An investigation in Acadia Parish has led to the discovery of approximately 83 marijuana plants ranging from two to six feet in height. According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon a path to the residence of Kenneth C. Leger, 63, was discovered leading to his arrest.
On Monday Narcotic Agents conducted a search of a wooded area near Morse in the Mermentau Cove area. Agents discovered marijuanna plants, items used to cultivate marijuana and a path leading back to the residence of Kenneth C. Leger of Mermentau Cove, Morse.
Melancon stated that during the investigation, Narcotic agents obtained a voluntary consent to search the property and upon doing so located and confiscated processed marijuana in the residence along with a firearm and five additional marijuana plants outside the residence.
Leger was booked into the Acadia Parish jail charged with Cultivation of Marijuana and Possession of a weapon in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance. Bond has been set at $20,000.
