A home invasion has this quiet neighborhood on edge.
Police say Sunday night in Loreauville, two masked men broke into a home and beat a 77-year-old man, sending him to the hospital.
"Two males attempted to break into his residence." Lt. Ryan Turner of the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office says, "(they) actually struck him with a handgun."
"They can't sleep," a family friend said. "They can't sleep at all."
The victims are now worried about another break-in. Those who talked with us asked that we hide their identities.
"For people to be terrified for their lives and for people at their age, it's sad to see this," a woman we'll call 'Ann' said.
"He's 77-years-old and his wife is crippled and I'd hate to see this happen to anybody else."
20-year-old Deondrick Bowser is a person of interest in this case.
If you have any information regarding Bowser's whereabouts or information leading to another suspect, you're asked to call the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Department.
