VIDALIA, La. (AP) - Concordia Parish sheriff's deputies say
seven men have been cited for illegal use of all-terrain vehicles on the Mississippi River levee south of Vidalia.
Sheriff Randy Maxwell says the men were cited Wednesday for cutting or destroying levees in violation of state law.
Investigators tell The Town Talk five ATVs were seized, along with an ice chest and beer.
State statute prohibits riding vehicles on sides of the levees year-round. Violators can face imprisonment up to 10 years or fines of up to $5,000.
