Lafayette's 6th Annual Boudin Cook-Off welcomes cooking crews from all corners of Acadiana to the event on October 19th in downtown Lafayette.
Crowds will enjoy samples from boudin teams who travel from Lafayette, Broussard, Cottonport, Dry Creek, Duson, Eunice, Mamou, Opelousas, Scott, Sunset, Baton Rouge and Lake Charles to tempt palates with their traditional recipes and try out new creations at the event.
"The Boudin Cook-off's focus has always been about promoting this unique culinary treasure we enjoy in South Louisiana and supporting the boudin masters who keep this tradition alive. The "unlinked" category gives chefs a chance to try out creative twists on boudin and the past results have been fantastic - producing such memorable dishes as boudin egg rolls, pistolettes, burgers, stuffed peppers, and even boudin pie," says Bob Carriker, author of Boudin: A Guide to Louisiana's Extraordinary Link.
The free cook-off is open from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. in downtown Lafayette, at Parc Sans Souci (201 E. Vermilion St.) Festivities include music by The Specklers, Sons of Voodoo, and the Babineaux Sisters. Attendees will enjoy free ice cream sandwiches from Blue Bell Creamery. Food, refreshments, prizes, and activities for the whole family will fill the park with the fountain, so come enjoy the free fun jumps, face painting, games, and the boudin eating contest. Proceeds benefit the Historic Preservation Alliance of Lafayette.
Ample free parking is available downtown adjacent to the park. The event is presented by BoudinLink.com and CajunGrocer.com. For more information, visit www.boudincookoff.com.
