After the ball drops, we all wake up with a new year, and for many a fresh new set of goals to improve their lives. The tough part isn't making the resolution, it's actually keeping them. Here are some popular resolutions along with ways to make sure you keep them for the next 365 days.
1) Set a goal to manage your money better and set target dates to pay down debts. Many banks offer expense tracking online and through apps, so you can see exactly where your money goes.
2) Go back to school to finish a degree or earn another one. Filling out the FAFSA yearly can help with financing this goal. Community colleges and online courses offer a cheaper route to achieve this resolution.
3) Learn a new language. Dualingo is a popular, comprehensive language learning tool. To progress, you must speak and write in the new language but doing it in a fun way.
4) Quit smoking. The new alternative to patches or cigarettes is the electronic cigarette. Unlike regular cigarettes, these emit a vapor instead of second-hand smoke. Also www.smokefree.gov offers many tools to put you on the road to a smoke free life.
5) Getting back in shape is the most common resolution. Health club owner Red Lirelle offers some advice to those who want to keep that new years resolution and stay on the road to a healthier lifestyle.
"It's tough. The best thing to do is to find a partner. If you can find a partner that you can train with, a lot of times the partner just gets you there. But the important thing is that you made a commitment to somebody else other than yourself and that's the best way to stay in shape," Lerille said.
