KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - Roadside bombs and insurgent fire have
claimed the lives of five more U.S. troops in Afghanistan today.
NATO says four troops were killed by a roadside bomb in eastern
Afghanistan, while a fifth died in a battle with insurgents in the
country's south.
In all, 19 American service members have been killed there since
Saturday.
There's also been an attack today outside of Kabul on a busload
of Afghan Supreme Court clerks. Officials say a gunman opened fire,
killing three people and wounding 12.
Meanwhile, NATO says its forces -- along with Afghan army and
police -- have killed 19 insurgents and captured five in a major
air assault on a village in eastern Afghanistan.
The alliance says ground forces taking part in the assault
uncovered insurgent fighting positions.
