5 hurt in Chackbay accident

CHACKBAY, La. (AP) - Five people were injured when an 18-wheeler carrying sugar cane crashed into several vehicles and an apartment complex on La. Highway 20 in Chackbay.
At least one of the injuries was serious. State police said one woman was airlifted to University Hospital in New Orleans after the Thursday afternoon accident.
State Police said a driver had pulled into oncoming traffic at about 4:30 p.m. and was struck by the 18-wheeler. The big truck then struck a parked pickup truck. Both vehicles crashed into an apartment building where a man inside was injured.
