JULY 3RD, 2013
LAKE END PARK FAIR
Now through June 7th: Lake End Park Fair will be held at the Lake End Parkway on Hwy 70 by the Judges Stand. Fair times will be now through Friday, 5:00 to 9:00 pm and Saturday & Sunday, 3:00 to 9:00 pm.
YOUNGSVILLE 4TH CELEBRATION
Sugar Mill Pond will celebrate Independence Day with events starting at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday in Youngsville. The event is free and includes face painting, pony rides, live music and hot-air balloon rides. A fireworks display at 9 p.m. will cap the evening. Sugar Mill Pond is at 101 Waterview Road in Youngsville.
PRE-4TH BLOCK PARTY
On Wednesday, July 3rd from 5-10 pm the City of Patterson will host its Annual Pre-4th Block Party on Park Street between the corners of 1st and 2nd St. There will be music by the Don Rich Band from 5-8 pm and DJ KidKid of KBZE from 8-10 pm in the parking lot of the Patterson Police Department Training Center at 205 Park Street. Don't forget to bring your lawn chairs.
STARS & STRIPES CELEBRATION
The 22nd Annual Stars & Stripes Celebration in Jennings will be held July 3, 2013. Gates open at 4 P.M with fun jump and a giant water slide activities for children 12 and under (free of charge.) Live entertainment from 4:30 - 6:30 pm. with Music Unlimited rockin' the crowd. At 6:30 pm there will be a military ceremony by local Vietnam Veterans. High Performance featuring Steve Riley and Jamie Bearb takes the stage at 7 - 9 pm. A fireworks display immediately follows. Admission: $3.00 per person, children 12 & under free. ERATH 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION
67th Annual ERATH 4TH OF JULY Celebration continues on July 3rd with Cajun Carnival Rides from 6:00 PM - 12:30 AM. A Fais Do Do Side Show Acadiana's Favorite Variety Band from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM and Geno Delafose & French Rockin' Boogie from 9:30 PM - 12:30 AM. DANCE CONTEST: 11:00 PM. RED, WHITE AND BOOM!
The Acadiana Symphony Orchestra & Conservatory of Music, along with Eat Lafayette, Townsquare Media, Party Central and KATC TV3 present Red, White & BOOM! on Thursday, July 4, 2013. Grammy winner Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band will headline the celebration at 6:30 pm in Parc International. Chubby Carrier, dubbed as "The World's Premier Zydeco Showman," also will perform with your Acadiana Symphony Orchestra for the annual patriotic concert following Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band.
The block party starts at the "Freedom Fest!" stage with Mike & the Rockets kicking it off at 5:00 pm, then Grammy nominee Corey Ledet & His Zydeco Band at 6:00 pm and Lafayette's Bayou Boys at 7:30 pm. Families can join the fun at the Conservatory KidZone in Parc Sans Souci with interactive children's music every hour beginning at 5:15 p.m., water activities, fun jumps, an instrument petting zoo, face painting, patriotic arts and crafts, balloon animals, and more! The Grand Finale Fireworks show, which promises to be bigger and better than ever, begins at 9:15 pm. Get ready for bigger, better BOOM! No poof this year!
Gates open and festivities begin at 5:00 pm. Admission is $5 per person and gives patrons access to all three stages. The Acadiana Symphony proudly continues its partnership with FoodNet by offering 1 FREE concession ticket in exchange for 5 non-perishable food items. FoodNet's most needed food items are boxed cornbread, canned tuna and peas. Food and beverages will be sold on site. Food and drinks provided by Jefferson Street Pub can be purchased with tickets bought onsite. No ice chests allowed. Proceeds from Red, White and BOOM! support the Conservatory's early childhood music education programs, including Do Re Me, Boys Club Girls Club, Link Up and more.

OUR SAVIORS CHURCH CELEBRATION, FIREWORKS SHOW
Our Saviors Church in Lafayette will have an Independence Day celebration starting at 5:00 pm. Bring tail-gating set up and literally park all over the campus. There will be water slides, fun jumps, food trucks, caricature and balloon artists, etc. Firework show (set to start at 9:00) that lasts more than 20 minutes. Senator Jonathan Perry will be in attendance to reflect and pray for our nation.
LIVE MUSIC AT SCANDALS

4TH OF JULY PARADE & FIREWORKS

CITY OF BROUSSARD FIREWORKS DISPLAY
The City of Broussard will host their annual Fireworks on Thursday, July 4th at 5pm at the Home Depot & Wal-Mart Parking Lots in Broussard. Fireworks Display starts at 9:00 pm.
BROUSSARD HOT DOG EATING CONTEST
Broussard will host the Royal hot dog eating competition at 7:30 pm. Hot dogs and soft drinks will be sold with all proceeds benifit the Miles Perret Cancer Services.
ERATH 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION

MOVIES IN THE PARK SUMMER MOVIE SERIES
FRANKLIN, La.-The City of Franklin will host "Movies in the Park Summer Movie Series," on July 4, July 20 and August 3. All movies are free to the public. The first movie will be "The Karate Kid," which stars Jaden Smith, Jackie Chan and Taraji P. Henson.
The first movie will be shown at Broussard-Harris Park on July 4. The park will open at 7:15 p.m., and the movie will begin at dusk. Movie goers are allowed to bring blankets and chairs to sit on; however, no ice chests or alcohol will be allowed in the parks. The Iberia Rod and Gun Club will hold its 60th annual Saltwater Fourth of July Fishing Rodeo July 4 - 6, 2013, at Quintana Landing, LA 319, in Cypremort Point, La.
Fishermen compete in four divisions: Junior, Inside, Diving and Offshore. Species vary for each division. Participants can start fishing at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday. Offshore divisions may depart no sooner than noon on Wednesday. Scales will be open under the pavilion from 3 - 6 p.m. on Thursday, 1 - 6 p.m. on Friday, and 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Saturday. Food and beverages will be sold on site.
Trophies will be awarded after closing of the scales on Saturday. "Each fish is worth $500 and there are 14 fish in that division," said event planner Chad LeBlanc. "We will be giving away over $10,000 in cash and prizes."
Every child who weighs in a fish in the Junior division will be eligible to win one of five lifetime fishing licenses. Event organizers will hold a drawing on July 6 after closing of the scales. Participants must be present to win.
To celebrate the event's 60th anniversary, a fais-do-do will close the event on Saturday with performances by Leroy Thomas & The Zydeco Runners and The Bad Boys Band from 6 p.m. to midnight under the pavilion.
Anglers can purchase tickets at Cajun Guns & Tackle, Dago's, Hebert's Mini-Mart and Iberia Outboard & Marine Service. The Iberia Rod and Gun Club will sell Calcutta tickets at its Boat Captain's Supper held on July 2 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the American Legion's Hall in Lydia, La.

KROTZ SPRINGS 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION
The Krotz Springs 4th of July celebration will start at 5:30 pm in Nall Park. There will be live music, fun jumps, free watermelon, hot dogs and soft drinks. Fireworks start at dark.

DUTCH OVEN GATHERING
Visitors are invited to Chicot State Park in Ville Platte on Saturday, July 6, at 9:00 a.m. to noon, to learn about Dutch oven cooking at Pavilion 1. Bring your Dutch oven and cook with the staff. These gatherings provide a good opportunity to learn how to cook in a camp style black pot, so bring your fixings and enjoy the beautiful outdoors while cooking, eating, and visiting with others in the new group. In celebration of the July 4th weekend, this month gathering's theme is using Dutch ovens to make staples of the Great American Cookout. Bring your ovens and new ideas for twists on the usual summer get together. Everyone is welcome to attend whether they cook or not. Day-use admission to the park is $1 per person. All programs are free with paid admission to the park. Groups of 10 or more can make reservations for special programs.
