4th Arrest in New Iberia Murder

On Saturday, September 25, 2010, Detectives with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office made a fourth arrest in the homicide which occurred on Thursday at 509 St. Mary St. Davian Batiste (DOB 07/03/1979 1418 Dehart St. New Iberia) was arrested and charged with principal to first degree murder. Dehart was located standing outside a different Barber Shop on Field St. in the city of New Iberia. Detectives believe Batiste is responsible for driving the other three suspects to the barber shop on St. Mary St. to commit the robbery and homicide. Batiste was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail.



Iberia Parish deputies have two men in custody but are looking for more murder suspects tonight.

     Deputies say it happened Thursday night just before 10 on St. Mary Street.

     Four men wearing masks entered "Cliff's Impressive Cuts" demanding money. Then, one of the men shot barber and store-owner, Cliff Williams.

     Deputies now believe they have two of the masked killers in custody.

     18-year-old Craig Gilliams and 19-year-old Steven Bell are being charged with first degree murder.



          A third arrest has been made. 

     Deputies arrested 30-year-old Anthony Daye and are charging him with first degree murder for his involvement in the shooting of Cliff Williams.

     Sheriff Louis Ackal says his detectives have been working throughout the night on this case and expects to more arrests soon.


     Williams was 45-years-old. He was a man neighbors say was very active in the community and well-respected.
