4 women robbed near downtown library

Victims Held Up in Parking Lot of Downtown Library

On November 25, 2009, at approximately 12:20 am, officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to the 300 block of West Congress Street regarding an armed robbery. The victims, four females of Baton Rouge, were walking in the parking lot of the Public Library downtown when a dark colored vehicle approached them from behind. One suspect exited the vehicle, produced a gun and demanded their purses. The suspect stole two purses, re-entered the vehicle and fled the area.

The victims could not describe the suspect in the vehicle, but described the suspect with the gun as a dark skinned male. No injuries were report as a result of the robbery. The case remains under investigation.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the robbery or the suspect to contact the Lafayette Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 232-Tips.
