4 dead, 2 hurt in 5 N.O., Jefferson shootings

NEW ORLEANS (AP) Five shootings within 24 hours kill four men and injure two others in New Orleans and Jefferson Parish.

The New Orleans coroner's office identified two men killed Saturday as 31-year-old Algernon Washington of Harvey and 39-year-old David Jackson of New Orleans. Police say Washington was killed early Saturday in Algiers, and Jackson about 1:30 p.m., about eight blocks from Touro Infirmary.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Sgt. Larry Dyess says 31-year-old Andre Paul of Harvey and 32-year-old Carl Windom of New Orleans died in a double shooting in in Harvey.

New Orleans police say an 18-year-old man was shot in eastern New Orleans about 5 p.m. Saturday, and another man was shot in the back about two hours later, near the Pontchartrain Expressway.
