MANSFIELD, La. (AP) - Four men are in custody and authorities are looking for a fifth involved in theft of more than $200,000 in copper wiring from the Dolet Hills Lignite Mine operations.
A tip in late December led to the discovery of some of the stolen wire at a scrap yard in the Shreveport-Bossier City area. Chief Criminal Deputy Horace Womack told The Times that allowed DeSoto Parish sheriff's investigators to trace it back to a buyer in Natchitoches, and the subsequent paper trail pointed to the five men, their vehicles and dates of sale that coincided with the thefts.
In custody facing felony theft charges are 34-year-old Chadrick W. Holman, 43-year-old Adam C. Futrell and 38-year-old Daryl D. Layfield and 20-year-old Jessie D. Wood. All are from Coushatta.
