Ouachita Parish Police Jurors hope to speed up the process of selling adjudicated properties by using a third party to handle all the property the parish seizes for nonpayment of taxes.
During Monday's Police Jury meeting, jurors agreed to contract with Escamilla & Poneck, which has a firm in Monroe, to handle adjudicated property sales and donations.
Juror Pat Moore brought the matter to the Police Jury because the process has become overwhelming for the parish's limited staff.
Parish attorney Jay Mitchell said the Police Jury has 800 pieces of adjudicated property in its possession.
