THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - A Belle Rose man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison in connection with the death of a Lockport woman in a car crash last March.

Thirty-five-year-old Frederick Deboue had pleaded guilty to one count of vehicular homicide. The Daily Comet reports that the guilty plea came Thursday after the Lafourche Parish District Attorney's Office dropped a fourth-offense drunk-driving charge.

The crash happened last March 9 on Louisiana Highway 1. The victim was 44-year-old Robin Matherne. District Attorney Cam Morvant said Deboue had a blood alcohol level of .25 percent when the crash occurred.
