PLAIN DEALING, La. (AP) - A three-year-old Plain Dealing boy was killed while riding his Big Wheel tricycle on a highway.
State police say Gavin O. Brown was reportedly riding the tricycle in the northbound lane of Old Plain Dealing Highway around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday when he was hit by a car driven by 69-year-old Oscar Wager of Plain Dealing.
Troopers say the child and the tricycle were pushed more than 200 feet across the road into a ditch.
The toddler was transported to the LSU hospital in Shreveport, where he was pronounced dead.
Troopers tested the driver for alcohol; however, the test came back negative.
KSLA-TV reports a fund has been set up in the child's name to help with burial expenses at First National Bank of Benton.
