3 Texas men are accused of stealing tractors

Three Texas men are accused of stealing five tractors valued at $67,000 from an Opelousas business.

According to police, Melvin Kupp II, 40, of Humble Tx, Jerry Goree, 32, of Houston, Tx, and Jerry Shipman, 23, of Humble Tx., burglarized Progressive Tractor, located on I-49 Service Road, on two separate occasions.

The first burglary occurred on August 22, 2012, where two zero-turn tractors valued at $22,000 were stolen. The second burglary occurred October 12, 2012, where three zero-turn tractors valued $45,000.00 were taken.

Warrants were issued for all three men. Kupp is presently in the Harris County Jail, Goree in the Vernon Parish Jail. Detainers have been place on them by Opelousas Police Department. Shipman is still at large, however has indicated he will turn himself in to authorities.

The lengthy investigation involved several agencies including: The Opelousas Police Department, La State Police, Lafayette Police Department, Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office, FBI-Alexandria Office, Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office, along with Texas Agencies: Depart. Of Public Safety, Orange County Sheriff's Office , Harris County Sheriff's Office, Beaumont Police Department, Humble Police Department, Katy Tex. Police Department, Splendora Police Department, Hemstead Police Department, Dayton Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, and Wallier County Sheriff's Office.
