3 Businessmen Invest in Franklin Area History

FRANKLIN, La. (AP) - Hidden hallways, curvy catwalks and secret stairways dating back to the earliest days of postal service now belong to three businessmen.
Gary Blum, Joe Duck and Keith Landen of Franklin say they bought the 200-year-old building, housing those treasures, from the federal government because they're interested in historic preservation.
Duck says that early supervisors used the hidden passages to watch people sorting mail or money.
He owns a construction company and began checking for damages at the property before the $75,000 sale closed last week. He says it's in incredibly good shape.
The post office was built between 1806 and 1812, and closed a few years ago when the post office moved to a rented building a few blocks away.
