PLAISANCE, La. (AP) - Louisiana's oldest zydeco festival gears up this week with a parade and a free jam session at what organizers say is one of the oldest zydeco clubs still standing. The 28th Annual Original Southwest "La-La" Zydeco Music Festival on Saturday in Plaisance will culminate three days of events in and near Opelousas.Organizer Lena Charles of the Southern Development Center says hens were cooking early this week for hen sauce piquante. Like the dance Thursday night at Slim's Y-Ki-Ki, the spicy food will be
free. Slim's Y-Ki-Ki also is the site of Friday night's kickoff dance and squeeze-box competition. The festival started in 1982, organized by people who worried that the music might be dying out.
