28th Annual Here's the Beef Cookoff

This long-running annual event, sponsored by the St. Landry Parish Cattleman's Association, Cattlewomen and LA Beef Industry Council, features some of the best food from the area's greatest cooks, weekend chefs and aspiring culinary artists. Live entertainment and an old-fashion trail ride round out the day's events. The trail ride starts at 8:30 am. Entry fee is $10 and includes food and ride. Live music begins at 10:30 am with Lil Kenny and The Heartbreakers. The cookoff categories are: Gourmet, Brisket, Roast, Stew or Rice & Gravy, Ground Meat, Miscellaneous, Jr. & Sr. Youth. Judging starts at 12:30 pm.
