26th Iowa Rabbit Festival starts Thursday

IOWA, La. (AP) - It's Rabbit Festival week in Iowa (EYE-oh-way).
The festival runs from Thursday through Saturday to raise money for scholarships, school clubs, boy scouts, athletics and other organizations.
The Iowa Rabbit Festival started 26 years ago to promote a rabbit processing plant. The plant is long gone, but the festival remains, with a bandstand, pageants, a carnival, cook-off and rabbit shows.
There hadn't been a rabbit show for some time, but the Acadiana Area Rabbit Breeders recently brought it back. And to encourage youth participation, a 4-H show has been added.
Entertainment includes Chubby Carrier, Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys and Geno Delafose and French Rockin Boogie.
