24-Hour Blood Drive July 12

Acadiana - United Blood Services and Townsquare Media's seven radio stations are racing against the clock to save lives in Acadiana. From Thursday, July 12th at 7 a.m. to Friday, July 13th at 7 a.m. United Blood Services' center at 1503 Bertrand Drive will remain open for the entire 24 hours to accept blood donations. They will also have lots of food, prizes and thank you gifts for donors. More than 50 area hospitals in South Louisiana rely on United Blood Services, and their generous volunteer blood donors, to meet the blood needs of their patients.
During the summer months, blood donations dip to dangerously low levels as families become involved with vacations, sports and children who are home on summer break. Plus, Acadiana hospitals typically have greater blood needs during the summer. With more than 5,000 pints of blood being transfused locally each month, every donation makes a difference.
"This 24-hour blood drive promises to be fun as well as lifesaving," said Christina Duhon, Senior Donor Recruitment Representative. "You never know when you or someone you love may need blood. So please, come out and donate."
Throughout the entire 24 hours, all participants will automatically be registered to win hourly giveaways, special giveaways and grand prizes donated by our major sponsors (Blue Bell, Tony Bernard, Forum AOI, DKM Printer, PCMS, Paul's Jewelry, All Seasons Pools & Spas, Papa John's Pizza, Acadiana Ford, McDonald's and Townsquare Media). While supplies last, all donors will receive a pint of Blue Bell Ice Cream, the "5th Annual Race Against the Clock" t-shirt, McDonald's oatmeal or fruit smoothie coupon and a Papa John's large pizza coupon.
