23-Year-Old Jennings Man Electrocuted

ROANOKE, La. (AP) - Jefferson Davis sheriff's deputies say a
23-year-old Jennings man died while trying to steal copper wire
from a utility line.
Sheriff Ricky Edwards said that Joel Schexnider was electrocuted
at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday near Roanoke as he was trying to throw
a rope around the live electrical line.
Edwards said Schexnider was driven by a friend to a truck stop
on La. Highway 395 in Roanoke, where several people tried to revive
him with CPR. He was later taken to Jennings American Legion
Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
23-year-old Stace Adam Deleon,
also of Jennings, has been charged with theft and attempted theft
in connection with the copper theft in rural parts of Jefferson
Davis Parish.
