21 Big Pythons Need Permanent Home

OAKDALE, La. (AP) - A reptile rescue group is looking for
permanent homes for 21 big pythons confiscated from a snake farm
near Oakdale.
Joe Lewis, president of the Louisiana Association of Reptile
Keepers, says many are 16 to 19 feet long.
He says they seem healthy - and more than 100 snakes less than
12 feet long remain at the property of 44-year-old David Beauchemin
and his wife, 23-year-old Tammi Beauchemin.
Allen Parish deputies arrested the Beauchemins - owners of High
End Herps Inc. and Happy Hounds Rescue - Friday on charges of
animal cruelty and theft by fraud.
David Beauchemin remains jailed without bond. Tawni Beauchemin
was released to tend to remaining animals.
She did not immediately respond to a call Tuesday from The
Associated Press.
