CROWLEY - Tuesday night at the Rice Palace in Crowley, artist Tony Bernard unveiled the official 2013 International Rice Festival poster. Bernard, who was also responsible for creating the festival's 2012 poster, presented the first and second signed posters to Rice Palace owners and Rice Festival Poster sponsors L.J. and Chee Chee Gielen.
"My thought was to capture the morning start of rice harvest in the background with the tradition of Grammy Winner Wayne Toups pulling in the festival crowd with his trademark ZyDeCajun sound in the evening," said Bernard while describing his poster.
On hand for the event were 2012 International Rice Festival Queen Sarah Jane Mouton, Rice Festival Coordinator Roxie Viator, 2009 Rice Festival President Janet Hebert, 2013 International Rice Festival President Romona Credeur, 2011 Rice Festival President J.C. Webb, Rice Festival Vice President Troy Perry, 2010 Rice Festival President Albert Leleux, Rice Festival President-Elect Connie Nutt, Rice Festival General Chairman Jay Suire, Rice Festival General Chairman Gene Williams, 2012 Rice Festival President Brady Williams and Rice Festival Secretary/Treasurer Blane Faulk.
