As part of the partnership with the Louisiana Sheriff's Association, Sheriff Michael Neustrom awarded two Lafayette Parish 2013 High School Graduates $500 each to defray the cost of their continuing education.
This is a unique opportunity for the Sheriff to honor what is right with our youth. Each year LSA awards one senior with a $500 scholarship from each parish in the state, the local sheriff selects the winner. Sheriff Neustrom has matched that awarding a second senior each year for the past 12 years. The dollars are awarded at the total discretion of the winner so he/she can use the money in the manner that best suits the winner.
The 2013 scholarship winners were selected in April and they are Garret Lavergne a graduate of Carencro High School and Hannah Richard a graduate of Lafayette Christian Academy. Both are attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
