Senator Fred H. Mills, Jr. and Representative Stephen J. Ortego are being honored for their persistence and constant commitment to quality care at the end of life in the State of Louisiana. Both legislators helped the hospice community during the 2012-13 mid-year budget cuts with the announcement of the elimination of the Hospice Medicaid Benefit.
Senator Fred H. Mills, Jr. represents Louisiana District 22, which includes St. Martin and Iberia Parishes. He is Vice-Chairman of the Senate Health and Welfare Committee and serves on Senate Finance, Judiciary C, and Local and Municipal Affairs Committees.
Representative Stephen J. Ortego represents District 39, which includes Lafayette and St. Landry Parishes. He serves on the House Commerce, Natural Resources and Environment, and Municipal, Parochial and Cultural Affairs Committees.
