Lafayette, LA- The mission of Miles Perret Cancer Services is to help those fighting, surviving, and living with cancer, including caregivers. MPCS is especially excited to honor caregivers on Saturday, August 18th at the upcoming Games of Acadiana.
"My mother was and still is my primary caregiver," says Sherry McMinn, cancer survivor and long time MPCS volunteer. "I wouldn't have made it without her. You rely on them for so much - everything from chemo treatment to doctor appointments to just everyday life."
Every year, MPCS selects a person or group to honor at Games of Acadiana. MPCS chose Caregivers as this year's honorees as a way to say thank you to those who have supported and continue to support their loved ones fighting cancer.
"There are so many people that are affected by a cancer diagnosis," says Executive Director Nicole Jones. "Caregivers serve as a source of hope, care, and strength when their loved ones need it most. For that we feel they deserve a day of recognition."
You can join MPCS in celebrating this year's Honorees at the Cajundome and Convention Center Saturday, August 18 from 10am-4pm for the 12th Annual Games of Acadiana.
This family fun day is filled with over 60 games and activities and there is no admission fee. For more information on Game Day, or on the services that Miles Perret Cancer Services provides, visit milesperret.org or call 337-984-1920.
