20 something man stabs and injures 2 men almost twice his age

Lafayette Police responded to a report of a stabbing in the 300 block so Short Street this morning.

Just after midnight, a 52 year old male of Lafayette, told police the suspect, Thaddeus Lewis 29 of Lafayette, forced his way into the residence and began arguing over money. Police report, during the argument the suspect allegedly produced a pocket knife and began stabbing the victim multiple times.

A second victim, a 53 year old male, attempted to intervene in the dispute, and was struck with a board, injuring his wrist. Both victims, the 52 year old and 53 year old men were transported to a local hospital and remain in stable condition.

The suspect, Lewis, then fled the area on foot. Lewis was located by officers a short time later hiding beneath a home in the area.

Lewis was arrested and charged with Home Invasion, Attempted 1st Degree Murder, 2nd Degree Battery and Resisting an Officer. Lewis was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.

The investigation remains ongoing.
