2 women killed in eastern New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - New Orleans police are investigating a double shooting in eastern New Orleans that left two women dead.

Police say it happened at about 12:05 a.m. Saturday. Officers who responded found the women lying on the highway with multiple gunshot wounds to their bodies.

Police spokesman Garry Flot says one of the victims, a 25-year-old, has been identified but authorities are waiting to notify her family before releasing her name. The coroner's office is working to identify the other victim.

NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports paramedics pronounced both women dead at the scene.
