CHAUVIN, La. (AP) - Two sisters who were out crabbing rescued
three shrimpers from a burning boat.
The Courier reports that 27-year-old Carla Ghere of Bayou Blue
and 26-year-old Carolyn Tillman of Houma saw the boat on fire
shortly before 6 a.m. Monday, on Lake Boudreaux.
When they got closer, they saw that two men were hanging onto
the front of the boat, and a third was tangled in its nets.
With Royal Smith of Chauvin and deckhands Vince Stafford and
Keith Vincent of Houma safely on their boat, they were heading to
shore when they crossed paths with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's
Office Water Patrol.
Smith says his boat can be salvaged.
